The Horror, The Horror: New BBFC Classifications to Factor in Theme and Tone of Horror Films
The BBFC has announced a decision to update its guidelines for the classification of horror films. Under the new guidelines, the theme, tone and impact of films will be taken account alongside specific aspects of content and visual detail. In an interview with BBC Breakfast, the BBFC’s Assistant Director David Austin acknowledged that “sometimes visual detail isn’t the key issue” in establishing the potential impact of horror movies...

UK legally enforces PEGI video games rating system
From today (July 30th), retailers can be prosecuted should they sell an 18, 16, or even a 12 PEGI rated video game to anyone who is underage. If they do, it can result in a fine of £5,000 and a jail sentence of up to six months. In an effort to protect young children from playing games they shouldn’t be, video games will now drop the BBFC certificate, for they will now be classified by the Pan European Game Information (PEGI). So what does this...

Lollipop Chainsaw Hands On Preview

Lollipop Chainsaw Hands On Preview
After a zombie outbreak at San Romero High School, saving the day is a young cheerleader, Juliet Starling. She just so happens to be a zombie hunter, hence the use of a chainsaw. The whole idea of Suda 51’s Lollipop Chainsaw sounds like something that was cooked up in a couple of minutes, designed to appeal to the baser instincts of teenage boys. Yet what seems to propel the game, which is even apparent in the demo that was available to play,...

Outrageous Japanese Trailer for Lollipop Chainsaw reveals new characters!
It wasn’t that long ago since we had a trailer for Lollipop Chainsaw, specifically timed around Valentine’s Day. However, Kadokawa Games (who are distributing the game in Japan) have now released a crazy, over-the-top trailer. It should already be apparent just how insane this game is set to be, but this new trailer goes one step further, with lead character Juliet Starling playing zombie basketball and mowing down zombies with a combine harvester....

The Human Centipede Part II (Full Sequence) Teaser Trailer
IFC Films have released a new 50-second teaser trailer for The Human Centipede Part II (Full Sequence), ahead of its US release next month. The sequel tells the story of a Martin (Laurence R. Harvey) who becomes sexually obsessed with a DVD recording of the first film. So much so that he decides to make his own twelve-person human centipede. The film made headlines a few months back after it was banned in the UK by the BBFC. Although IFC Films intend...

3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy review

3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy review
In Placing 3D before the title, 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy is obviously pushing this aspect of the movie. Shot in 3D, the effect brings attention to itself primarily via CGI enhanced ‘in-your-face’ moments. Protruding from the screen are daggers, bullets, even Mah Jong tiles and something I’d like to believe is water. Given the title, there’s also the obvious – Vonnie Lui’s breasts are thrust towards the viewer for no other reason...

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) banned by the BBFC

The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) banned by the BBFC
Horror film The Human Centipede II (Full Sequence) has been refused a certificate by the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC), due to its, “graphic images of sexual violence, and mutilation.” The first film told the story of a mad doctor who kidnaps three tourists and surgically joins them together, ‘mouth-to-anus’, to create a human centipede. Noteworthy for apparently being 100% medically accurate, it was also released in the UK...
