VIDEO Chloë Grace Moretz Introduces The 5th Wave
So what’s makes this latest YA film based on a book series different to all the other YA films set on a book series out there at the moment? Being “set in the present” and “keeping it real” apparently, according to star Chloë Grace Moretz and the crew in this new featurette for The 5th Wave. Personally, we’d have gone bigger in “BLOODY BIG WAVES!” “HUGE SPACESHIPS!” Admittedly, it does look a little bit like Independence Day:...

The Tale of The Princess Kaguya review

The Tale of The Princess Kaguya review
“What a bore,” says Princess Kaguya after being told by her adoptive father that she cannot invite any of her friends from their village to a banquet. He also scolds her for spending time in the kitchen with her adoptive mother. It’s a strangely bittersweet moment where we see that the life of a princess isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Directed by Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata and co-written by Riko Sakaguchi, The Tale of The...

Kick-Ass 2 Review
One could be apprehensive to see the job of directing the sequel of 2010 hit Kick-Ass passed from Matthew Vaughn to Jeff Wadlow – whose last feature was 2008’s Never Back Down – but breathe a sigh of relief, for Kick-Ass 2 isn’t that bad. It’s actually quite a solid flick.  Taking the story of 2010’s Kick-Ass onwards, the sequel follows Dave Lizewski (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and Mindy Macreedy (Chloë Grace Moretz) who have effectively...

Kick-Ass 2 Red-Band Trailer

Kick-Ass 2 Red-Band Trailer
2010’s motion picture adaptation of the Mark Millar/John Romita, Jr. comic book Kick-Ass was a refreshing hit in this world of comic book movies, adapted from a much more recent series that took a more postmodern, brutal take on the idea of costumed vigilantes. With a few minor changes, X-Men: First Class director Matthew Vaughn alongside writer Jane Goldman helped adapt Kick-Ass for the screen, turning it into a gleeful cinematic change of pace...

The posters have drab grey architecture (and armchair) fused with vivid colours, each adding a little more detail behind the characters. If anything, we’re probably left wondering why Michelle Pfeiffer’s character is holding a shotgun! Even the film’s tagline is highlighted. Click for higher resolutions. In...
